Esthetics Entrepreneur Award 2021


The Bioelements Esthetics Entrepreneur Award annually awards and supports up-and-coming estheticians pursuing a path to professional skin care entrepreneurship.

Our Founder's Mission
Bioelements founder Barbara Salomone started on her entrepreneurial path in 1978 as one of the first-ever licensed estheticians in the U.S. She set a goal to help future estheticians build their careers with skin care formulas and education to ensure success. Today, in Barbara's memory, we remain committed to supporting the advancement of entrepreneurs with the Esthetics Entrepreneur Award so estheticians can succeed and flourish in their fields.

Esthetics Entrepreneur Award: 2021 Winners

Now in its 2nd year, the Esthetics Entrepreneur Award goes to 4 new estheticians pursuing a professional skin care entrepreneurship.

Each recipient receives a Bioelements Opening Order Package to launch their start-up esthetic spa business, plus education, a Bioelements Bonus Box of support tools, a Spa Locator listing on Bioelements.com, social media exposure – and a dedicated Bioelements Regional Education Business Manager as their personal mentor for 6 months. It’s a total value of $2500+ to jump start their entrepreneurial esthetics career!

As part of Bioelements commitment to positive change for all races, ethnicities, cultures, sexual orientation, and gender identities, at least half of the 2021 awards will go to Black or African American applicants.

Mission Statement

With so much misinformation about skin care thanks to social media, my mission is to take the confusion out of the process of caring for one’s skin by teaching my clients that they are unique individuals, and the way to achieve their ideal skin is by collaborating with a professional to make safe and healthy decisions. This is a process and there is not one “magic elixir” that will change skin overnight.

Ava's Journey

I have been a licensed esthetician for about 17 years, which is a testament to my dedication to the industry. However, my passion for what I do really hit its stride the last 4 years. First, I found a job at a facial studio where we have a fair amount of autonomy over the way services are performed and are allowed to let our personalities shine through. This has allowed me to combine my true self with my facial craft so form long lasting, meaningful relationships with my clientele. My job was shut down for 13 months due to Covid-19 and when we were finally able to reopen, I felt a sense of completion being able to provide touch and care to people during such a stressful time, this is at the forefront of each facial I perform now.

Point of Difference

My experience in the skincare business both as an esthetician, trainer, and retail associate makes me a well-rounded business owner. I will focus solely on facials/skincare and not waxing/lash extensions/other services that could distract from the quality of facials. I believe in high quality products and tools and tend to avoid trendy gimmicks that may photograph well, but don’t provide sufficient results for clients.

Vernisha's Journey

I received my first facial in 2012. I remember everything about it. The touch of the esthetician’s hands, the calming smell of lavender, the way the products felt, the way my skin was glowing, and how beautiful I felt afterwards. I was given a home care routine and great advice. I felt so good leaving the spa. It was this experience that made me so passionate about esthetics. I wanted to make a change in people’s lives by promoting self care, confidence through healthy skin, and creating good skin moments. After years of working receptionist and management positions in different spas across California, I was able to save up for school. I got offered a job at a medical spa the day after receiving my license and I’ve been so humble and grateful for the opportunity to help people on their healthy skin journey.

Point of Difference

I truly believe that my esthetics training and previous experience working customer-focused positions has given me the necessary tools and opportunity to provide my clients with professional, high quality service. My journey in becoming an esthetician has been humbling and rewarding. I’ve realized that there aren’t many places where I live that are comfortable working with higher Fitzpatricks. I’ve made it a point to continue furthering my education in areas of skin care that focus primarily on improving the appearance and health of diverse skin while maintaining its integrity. My business will be a place for people of all walks of life to be treated with professional care and quality. All skin deserves to be good skin.

It’s the personalized custom formulas with a clean philosophy for me! The time, expertise and mindfulness that was put into formulating each product for us to personally blend and customize into treatments that we can confidently offer to clients is top tier and very beneficial in achieving healthy skin. Kani's Journey

I have had a passion for esthetics since I was a child. My grandma, a successful model and Mary Kay Consultant, always had a large collection of skin care products. I would spend time going through all of her products and trying as many of them on myself as I could. As I got older, my passion for skin care continued to grow. It wasn't until I graduated college that I realized I could have a successful and fulfilling career doing something that I have always enjoyed. After being let go from my job in 2020 during the pandemic I decided to enroll in esthetician school, something I continued putting off because I never had the time. I was able to complete my program and step into entrepreneurship full time, which has always been a goal for myself.

Point of Difference

I like to think of myself as a renaissance woman. I pride myself in continuous learning and utilizing all of my talents. Not only am I a licensed esthetician, but also a licensed massage and bodywork therapist. I chose to become dual licensed not only to be more knowledgeable in my line of work, but also to be able to provide an extensive list of services. I also plan to give back to my community by reaching back to young girls. I want to create programs that educate girls on self-love, self-care, personal hygiene, and overall health and wellness. I hope to have a positive impact on girls so that they continue to grow into powerful, brilliant, and world changing women. Lastly, I plan to create a space where everyone feels welcome and accepted as they are. I want to provide budget friendly services to change the mindset that self-care is a luxury instead of a necessity.

I first realized that I had a passion for esthetics shortly after getting certified in lash extensions and finding out that it was going to be what was necessary to work in the field of the beauty industry. I always had a desire to help people and felt like by doing beautifying and relaxing services what better way to help someone! I made it my duty to study in school to learn different techniques and all the ins and outs of becoming a well-educated esthetician. My school used Bioelements products and I felt like the ingredients in each product paired with the techniques and the detailed student manual made things easy to learn. Every day I wanted to try something new.

Point of Difference

1. Attention to detail: It is very important in the esthetics field to pay attention to things especially when it comes to dealing with someone’s face and skin. It’s imperative to ask questions about allergies and sensitivities that could be contraindications with doing certain services. It’s better to ask more questions and be overly informed as compared to rushing through a service and not taking the time to really get to know your client. 2. Focus on the customer experience: From the start to the end of the service it will be completely about the client relaxing and being at ease. Each client will be treated with respect and know that their time with me is my first priority and achieving whatever their skin care needs are is my main focus. 3. Quality of my products: It is important in getting the results that your clients want to be able to achieve to use quality products that have the necessary ingredients to get the job done. Having the knowledge on what is the correct protocol and the right tools to use to create success starts with working with products that have been proven to be reliable.

Bioelements is my esthetic line of choice because it’s all about the custom blending!!! That was something from the very beginning that I valued. Not having a cookie cutter facial layout for normal, oily, dry or sensitive skin because everyone who is oily may not have clogged pores or someone who is dry may also be dealing with fine lines and wrinkles. Starting out with the custom blend facial the possibilities are endless of what you can provide to each client.
